![]() ![]() Every time the Sun goes down, we delve into the darkness created by Earth's umbra. In fact, we travel through it quite regularly. Like the Moon, Earth always casts an umbra. If the Moon is close to its apogee, its farthest from Earth, during the eclipse, the umbra does not reach the Earth's surface at all, and it is replaced by the antumbra, producing an annular solar eclipse. This eclipse will be a hybrid solar eclipse. For example, the total solar eclipse on Decemwill last only 8 seconds at its maximum point, with partial phases before and after totality. The total phase of the solar eclipse then lasts only a short moment. If the eclipse occurs when the Moon's distance is greater, the tip of the Moon's cone-shaped umbra (see illustration) may only just reach the Earth's surface during parts of the eclipse, meaning that its diameter is close to zero. During some total solar eclipses, the umbra's path width reaches over 1000 km (600 mi) at the poles. At higher latitudes, the Sun's rays hit the Earth's surface at a shallower angle, so the umbra's size grows accordingly. In that case, the umbra's path across the Earth's surface typically has a width of roughly 150 km (90 mi) at the Earth's equator. If the Moon is at its closest to Earth (its perigee) during the eclipse, the Moon appears larger in the sky. The smaller the distance, the larger the umbra. The size of the area on the Earth's surface covered by the Moon's umbra during a total solar eclipse depends, amongst other things, on the Moon's current distance from Earth. What is a hybrid solar eclipse? How Large Is the Moon's Umbra? For example, the total solar eclipse on Apwill only be visible along a narrow belt stretching across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. ![]() Even during a total solar eclipse, the umbra only covers a small area on Earth.Īs both the Moon and the Earth are in constant motion, the umbra moves across the face of the Earth during the eclipse, so the total phase can usually only be seen along a slim eclipse path. The reason why solar eclipses are so rare is that the Moon's umbra rarely hits the Earth's surface. This means that somewhere in space, on the dark side of the Moon, a total solar eclipse is happening right now. On its journey through space, the Moon always casts an umbra. If you are within the Moon's umbra and look into the direction of the Sun, you will see a total solar eclipse as the Moon blocks the all of the Sun. The type of eclipse depends on the type of shadow that is involved. When the Earth enters the Moon's shadow, we see a solar eclipse when the Moon travels through the Earth's shadow, a lunar eclipse occurs. Antumbra – the lighter part of the shadow that begins where the umbra tapers to a point.Penumbra – the lighter outer part of the shadow. If you are standing within the umbra, you will not be able to see any part of the light source as the object blocks all direct light rays. Imagine a light source and an object casting a shadow. Each shadow has 3 different areas: the umbra, the penumbra, and the antumbra. Like any other opaque objects illuminated by a light source, the Moon and the Earth cast shadows into space as they block the sunlight that hits them. The Eagles will win but they’ll fail to cover the spread as five-point road favorites. It took two tries, but Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was able to punch it from the 1-yard line on fourth-and-goal to give the Eagles a 20-3 lead. And so I’m wont to believe things will not be easy for the 2023 Eagles until they prove that’s the case. But maybe I’m allowing the concerns that have crept up be washed away by the passage of time since their last game. The more I think about it, the more I have confidence in the Eagles winning this game. It’s not hard to imagine that Mayfield could be pressured into making mistakes. But the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears can’t say they boast the defensive line talent that the Eagles have acquired. The Bucs have protected him relatively well Mayfield has only been sacked once so far. He’s played efficient, mistake-free football. When it comes to the Eagles stopping the Bucs’ offense, Baker Mayfield could prove to be annoying than expected. Mayfield did rally the Bucs with an impressive 75-yard touchdown drive in the. Brown might be a much happier man this week. The Eagles also opened the second half with a methodical 13-play, 75-yard touchdown pass to make the score 20-3. Perhaps surprisingly, Tampa Bay is 2-0 SU and ATS in the post-Tom Brady era. And they could take advantage of a Bucs secondary that could be starting an injury-hampered Carlton Davis (or his backup if he can’t play) and a struggling Jamel Dean (156.2 passer rating when targeted so far). hung on for a 34-28 victory, pushing as 6-point favorites. The Eagles have too much talent not to figure it out. The feeling here is that Hurts and Brian Johnson will make some meaningful progress. But they do need their quarterback to be sharper than he was in his first two outings this season. The Eagles don’t need to go out and drop 70 like the Miami Dolphins just did (could be cool, though). Hurts has the most rush TD by any QB in NFL history after his first 50 games. Bet on Monday’s games at DraftKings Sportsbook Jalen Hurts scores on a 4th-and-goal from the tush push - which is still a football play the Eagles do very, very well. at 9:12 am ET Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a fine tune-up in their first playoff game as the defending Super Bowl champions, taking a 31-point lead after three quarters. ![]() ![]() ![]() Copy courtesy of the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center Library. ![]() ![]() I tried investigating, and determined it was either the Flywire, or the bootie-like tongue application which Nike used in this shoe. And probably my biggest gripe comes with Issue #3: The Flywire and tongue! On the inside of my right foot (near the inside of the arch), something was digging into my foot pretty bad. Even just walking around, I could tell there's hardly any cushion to these. It's not flexible at all, and it seems very hard. That being said, I have a pair of Nike Free 5.0+ that are a size 9, I recently had to return a pair of Nike Free Bionics in a size 8.5 because they were a hair too big, and, I ordered these Nike Lunar Cross Elements in a size 8, and they were a hair too big. I wish Nike was a little more consistent with their sizing! I wear a size 8 in all street shoes. I was really excited to try it out for P90X and Insanity however, they didn't even make it that far. I have a few bones to pick with this shoe. As an added bonus, the low-cut profile of the shoe itself will not swallow up your foot, showing more ankle, making your legs look longer, if you care about that sort of thing :) Can't recommend enough for all you lifters/Crossfitters out there! ![]() Very light-weight perfect for quick cardio drills. The sole is very flexible for ease of movement (think mountain climbers) and has a gel-like feel. That being said, they are still VERY comfortable not meant for super long mileage but I've worn them all day doing errands after the gym and are still as comfortable as when I put them on. They are best for mostly bootcamp classes but also lifting sessions. It will also give you a more steady footing if you lift. These are not stacked high with a ton of cushion but they are not MEANT to- this keeps your foot low to the ground to discourage ankle rolling when doing side-to-side movements. I like my first pair so much, I had to get a second pair BEFORE they wore out so I wouldn't be without them! This will be my second pair of Nike Lunar Cross Elements. ![]() A low profile minimalist-like shoe, but with a moderate arch support and a bit more cushioning. This forced me into an over pronation position, which is exactly what someone with flat feet looking for a little support in a training shoe does not need. So it felt like I was sort of being pushed down onto the inside of my heel. It felt like my toes were higher off the floor than my heels, and the outside of my foot was higher than the inside of my foot. They made certain areas higher profile and other areas low profile, but the location of the high profile areas was odd to me. They pressed into my foot, even when I loosened the laces. I could actually feel it as if there were weird seams inside the shoe. One was the fly wire stuff inside the shoe. But I don't think I could have sized down, which was fine. I usually order a half size up, which I did, but they felt longer and wider than I was used to with Nike. ![]() They felt true to size, which for me is unusual with Nike. I loved how the Nikes looked, and desparate lay wanted to like how they felt, but they were weird. So I bought these and the Asics Gel Fortius TR to see if either would work. I had been wearing New Balance Minimus training shoes for a year, but when I started having knee and hip issues I realized I needed more support for my flat arches. ![]() ![]() ![]() To sum up this movie: take a bit of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a bit of The Evil Dead, a couple of elements from The Thing and Last House on the Left and you have Cabin Fever. I, however, found this to be a rather enjoyable little film that just falls short of being great. There is additional dialog among the townspeople, different shots, and it shows the FDA man walking around more testing and the Water supply truck is in view longer.Įli Roth's debut, Cabin Fever, seems to be hated by the majority on IMDb and many other critics. Instead of just the cops drinking the contaminated lemonade followed by a country song with the townspeople, the whole entire town shows up and has a cup. Then they pour gasoline and one cop lights a match and cellar goes up in flames followed by more shots of blood and guts on the walls, ceiling, and floor. The human-bonfire scene when they say "We got another one in the basement" immediately goes to a shot of the cellar door opening from the inside, then a bunch of shotguns appear and start shooting like crazy. He yells at the hick as he throws him down there and says "When they get here, tell them I didn't do it!", then slams the door. An additional scene where Rider Strong grabs the long-haired hick after the attack and drags him down to the cellar. In the "R" rated version it cuts away quick and only shows the aftermath from a difficult-to-see angle. The gunshot to Burt's head in the cabin is bloodier. This immediately follows when they hear the dog trying to get Karen in the shed and they shoot a bullet and tell Karen that they will stay outside with her to keep the dog away. A scene of Burt sitting outside guarding the shed with his shot gun.An extended scene of everyone arguing around the fireplace when Burt makes a joke about his burnt marshmallow. When it is discovered that Karen has the disease during an intimate scene, there is an additional scene that follows the "Don't.Leave.Me!" where Burt comes into the room and yells at her about how the truck isn't ready yet, and they have to finish cleaning up the bum's blood.A different angle of Jordan Ladd's character Karen swimming away after the "kiss" scene on the dock with Rider Strong. The scene of Rider Strong going behind the building to wash his hands after Dennis's bite and he pets the stray dogs is removed from the "uncut" version. Then they stop when Burt says he left something back at the store and they have a longer conversation about the map. ![]() The scene where they are in the shop in the beginning is removed from the "uncut" version and is replaced with an extended scene of them driving the truck through the woods. This version was released in North America on Blu-ray on February 10, 2016. And obviously, only experts aware of this development should be polled. Those opinions therefore can no longer be cited in favor of the passage. ![]() This means all those published opinions before were based on a falsehood. But by 2008 that “discovery” had been debunked in the peer reviewed literature by Josephus expert Alice Whealey: that Arabic translation was in fact of a Syriac translation of Eusebius, and the changes were thus made after him, either by a telephone game of transmission error or by scribal attempts to make the passage more believable. For example, a flurry of positive opinion arose about ten or twenty years ago from excess enthusiasm over the purported discovery of an earlier version of the text in Arabic translation that supposedly “proved” the passage predated Eusebius and said something different. Just as when they keep citing “experts on Josephus” saying the Testimonium Flavianum (or TF) must derive from some authentic core, even though the “experts” they are citing are either long dead or expressed their only opinions on the matter a decade ago or more and may have changed their minds since-because more recent developments have radically altered the data and only experts aware of those developments can have informed opinions worth counting. This includes new things, developments in the field, that aren’t found in most books because those books were written a decade ago or more.Ĭhristian apologists exploit this fact often. Way back in 2012 Matthew Ferguson published Leveling a Mountain of Manuscripts with a Small Scoop of Context, and it long reminded me of how non-experts can be manipulated by Christian apologists, because laypeople don’t know basic things about paleography that we experts take for granted (so much that we forget not everyone is aware of them). ![]() |
